Director’s Speech
at the Convocation 2006 |
|
| |
- Honorable Chief
Guest, Tahir A. Khan, Chairman Interflow Group of Companies
- Honorable Special Guest, Ameena Saiyid, recipient of the Order of the
British Empire and Managing Director Oxford University Press.
- Our distinguished guest from Staffordshire University, Professor Adrian
Low.
- Our distinguished guest from APIIT Malaysia, Mr. Gurpardeep Singh.
- Respected Parents, Heads of Institutions and dear students.
Good Afternoon and a very warm welcome to all.
It is with a sense of pride that I on behalf of the APIIT community welcome
you to this auspicious event. It marks the culmination of collaborated efforts
of students, lecturers, our overseas partners and the local administration
of the institute.
Webster Dictionary describes convocation as “an assembly where degrees
are conferred.”
This event, if I may add, is therefore an academic forum arranged to honor
the students, their parents and teachers. It acknowledges students’ achievements
in the academic sphere. It is all about the legacies they leave behind.
About recognizing and honoring their efforts. At each such ceremony we contribute
an effective workforce for the Corporate Sector.
As part of the international APIIT community each student had individually
and together as a class chose to uphold the values of commitment and dedication
to work in pursuit of excellence. Today we reap the fruit of all their efforts.
Our graduates and their juniors are advised to adhere to the spirit of this
pledge and become contributing members of the society.
Change is a constant accompaniment of life. APIIT is an internationally
recognized educational institute. We cannot however, be all things to all
people. We will leverage our unique assets in support of our most pressing
priorities. As programmes and people evolve and the explosion of new knowledge
and technology gets embedded in our everyday life, we too are constantly
striving to find new and better ways to reach our goals. We are fortunate
to enjoy the support of APIIT Malaysia and Staffordshire University. Regular
monitoring visits of International Programme Advisors from Malaysia and
UK synchronize all modules with those at other sites for assuring quality
and effectiveness.
Higher Education continues to face growing pressures on cost, economic retrenchment
and shifting demographics. Even as we face these very real challenges we
have not compromised on quality and will continue to provide students with
a highly individualized educational experience. The emphasis on research
in the undergraduate curriculum is a similar to graduate level studies at
other colleges and universities, which gives our students an overall advantage.
Mentoring and counseling is an integral part of our strategic planning too
We owe a huge gratitude to the senior management of the City School who
have always provided good counsel and support.
The term striving for excellence may be interpreted in
a variety of ways. The key components are hard work, persistence and sincerity
of purpose.
Aristotle has stated in his compilation of works on logic
collectively known as "The Organon” and I quote “We
are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act - but a habit”.
Unquote.
- I would like to conclude by thanking the staff of APIIT for
their support in organizing this event.
- We as a team extend our gratitude to the Managing Director
Dr.Farzana for her constant support and guidance.
Maam, we follow a simple rule that enables us to pre-empt and be prepared------
that is to comprehend and follow your vision of
a greater APIIT in the years to come. It is your vision
that has seen The City School grow from a one school unit into a network
and now providing educational facilities overseas.
- To our respected guests and parents-------------- your presence
truly made our day.
Heartiest Congratulations to all diploma and degree
holders, we wish you continued success in life. Thank you.

Women’s Awareness
Campaign |
|
|
| |
APIIT, being a well reputed
institute plays an extremely important role in refining and preparing young
Pakistani women of today to face the challenges of tomorrow. To add value
to the on-going process of learning in terms of addressing to various health
issues such as osteoporosis would prove to be fruitful in the long run.
The target market is 18 and above which was aimed at female students and
faculty members.
The program was designed around a presentation by a qualified nutritionist
and pre-session and post-session questionnaires which were filled by the
participants and the participants were given a chance to ask any questions
concerning the related issue. The session ended with refreshments and give-a-ways
from Tetra Pak.
Tetra Pak and Navitus over the years have developed a great working relationship.
Now they have taken on the responsibility of creating awareness about the
health issues which concern women due to the lack of milk intake. They plan
to achieve this by launching a “Women Awareness Campaign”, and as the name
suggests it was solely aimed at women. The session was informative and was
well attended. |

strategies adapted by the institute in order to ascertain for themselves
that there is absolute no dilution of quality between what has been drawn
up at SU and what is delivered at overseas sites. An itinerary of activities
was drawn up that encompassed meetings with students of all Levels, meeting
faculty members and an interactive session on Business and Computing projects
as well as one to one counseling sessions with students eager to transfer
credits to Staffordshire University.
The two IPA’s were accompanied by Mr. Glyn James, Faculty Partnership

Student Council Election |
|

9th Nov:

Council’s President, General Secretary and the Treasurer.
The candidates included: Rameez Khan, Owais Ahmed (President), Aamir Usmani,
Mehwish Pervaiz (General Secretary), Bilal Ahmed and Raheel Iqbal (Treasurer).
It was an exciting day as the campaigning had been in full swing for the
last whole week. A day before the Elections the candidates gave their formal
speeches summing their ideas & proposals for the student body, amidst
enthusiastic cheering and booing of the students.
The voting began around 9:am in the morning and lasted till 3:00pm. The
student body was all geared up and one could feel their energy charging
up the place. Frantic calls were made by campaigners to students who hadn’t
casted their votes and the hi-tech telephonic voting was pioneered at the
campus. It was a neck-to-neck status but as a gesture to connote that no
matter who is elected the Council is united in working for the student body,
Rameez Khan actually casted his vote in favor of his opponent. “We
are friends before anything else”, says Rameez. At day end the results
were announced at Iftar
Party. The Elected Council is as follows:
